Vice City is the skyline on the horizon from almost anywhere in Leonida — the place the money flows to, the place Jason and Lucia’s scores keep pointing toward, and the piece of the map Rockstar talks about with the most pride. Here’s what’s actually confirmed about it, and what the city clearly wants to be.

What Vice City is on the GTA 6 map
Vice City sits in Leonida’s southeast and functions as the metropolitan core of the entire game: a beach city stacked in layers, from sand and pastel hotel rows at the water’s edge, through dense commercial streets, up to a glass-and-steel downtown. Rockstar’s own framing is blunt — it calls this the most detailed city it has ever built, which is a notable claim from the studio that made Los Santos and Saint Denis.
Unlike the 2002 game that shared its name, this Vice City is contemporary. It is a city of influencers and street vendors, luxury towers and strip clubs, all packed into the same few miles of coastline. And it doesn’t exist in isolation: the Leonida Keys hang off its southern edge, and the Grassrivers wetlands press against its inland flank, which should make leaving the city feel like a genuine change of world.
Real-world roots
The Miami behind Vice City
Rockstar never labels its inspirations, but Vice City reads unmistakably as Miami. The beachfront’s low pastel Art Deco blocks are a clear nod to South Beach’s historic district; the wall of towers behind them evokes Brickell’s banking skyline; the marinas, causeways, and islands of moored yachts mirror Biscayne Bay. Even the cultural texture Rockstar describes — nightlife, new money, hustle culture — is Miami’s brand.
Treat any street-for-street mapping with care, though. Fans have matched trailer frames to real Miami corners since 2023, and some matches are convincing, but Rockstar remixes geography rather than copying it. The honest summary: Miami is the reference, Vice City is its own city.

What official material has shown
Two official trailers exist — December 4, 2023 and May 6, 2025 — plus the character and world pages on Rockstar’s site. From those sources, Vice City’s confirmed identity is: an Art Deco beachfront, a dense downtown, heavy nightlife, and waterfront luxury, presented as the showpiece of the state.
The preorder editions quietly confirmed real in-game places, too. The Ultimate Edition names four Vice City businesses — Rideout Customs (a vehicle mod shop), the Stock 305 clothing store, Sara’s Unisex Salon, and the Electric Fang tattoo parlor — and the Vintage Vice City Pack adds the Shore Court garage near a beachfront area called Ocean Beach, with a Paradise Garage in Watson Bay. Those names are small, but they are the first official street-level geography we have. Anything beyond this — district names, interiors, exact size — remains unannounced, and we track the sizing question separately in our GTA 6 map size analysis.

Vice City clearly has dozens of neighborhoods coming, but most names circulating online trace back to leaked development footage, which we don’t report. Six districts, though, have been named on-screen by Rockstar itself — in a trailer, an official screenshot, or its own promotional copy:

Expectations, clearly labeled as such: with confirmed clubs, a record label, a salon, a tattoo parlor, clothing stores, and a mod shop, Vice City is shaping up as the game’s social and customization hub — the place you spend money between scores. The Jack of Hearts and the Only Raw Records storyline suggest nightlife and the music scene are playable spaces, not just set dressing.
It should also be the density benchmark. If Rockstar’s “most detailed city” line holds, expect the kind of simulation showcase — crowds, traffic, beach life — that the quieter regions like Mount Kalaga deliberately contrast against.

Is Vice City the entire GTA 6 map?
No. Vice City is one of six officially named regions in the state of Leonida, alongside the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga. It anchors the southeast of the map, but the playable state extends far beyond the city limits.
Is this the same Vice City from the 2002 game?
It is the same fictional city, rebuilt from scratch as a present-day metropolis. GTA: Vice City (2002) portrayed it in 1986; GTA 6 returns to it decades later. Rockstar even winks at the old game — the Vintage Vice City Pack preorder bonus includes a palm-tree weapon pattern referencing Tommy Vercetti’s shirt.
What real city is Vice City based on?
Miami, Florida. The Art Deco beachfront, the dense downtown skyline, and the waterfront wealth all map cleanly onto Miami Beach and greater Miami — though Rockstar has never published a district-by-district correspondence, so specific neighborhood matches are fan analysis, not official fact.
How big is Vice City in GTA 6?
Rockstar has not released any official measurements for the city or the map as a whole. Community estimates putting the full Leonida map at roughly 1.5–2x GTA 5 are unconfirmed. Rockstar’s only sizing claim is qualitative: Vice City is the most detailed city it has ever built.
