Logger Beer
Beverage company VC · Vice City
Logger Beer is the series' perennial cheap American lager, lampooned in-game as tasteless and watery, 'made by Rednecks for Rednecks' and now Chinese-owned, and it is expected to return in Grand Theft Auto VI. The brand's history spans both universes, from radio spots in San Andreas and Vice City Stories to its own store in GTA IV's Bohan borough.
Vice City Material
Logger Beer is classified as an alcohol brand and beverage company in the Vice City region. No trailer timestamp, screenshot, promotional image, or other Grand Theft Auto VI-specific appearance is identified for the brand.
Its presence in Vice City should therefore not be treated as confirmation of a visible can, bottle, sign, store, commercial, or useable item in Grand Theft Auto VI. The available record supplies no VI-era price, product class beyond alcoholic beverage, manufacturer label, or gameplay function.
Brand Parodies
Logger is principally a parody of Coors Light. Its name also works as a counterpart to Miller Lite: a logger cuts timber, while a miller processes grain. The joke additionally relies on the close sound of “Logger Beer” and “lager beer.”
Bottle labels replace a conventional brewery founding claim with “born 1874,” echoing Budweiser’s “Born On” dating language. Logger Light’s advertising and packaging draw on light-beer branding, while a billboard slogan, “kiss my axe,” turns the lumberjack theme into a crude variation on a familiar insult.
Earlier-Game Appearances
Before the HD-era advertising campaign, Logger appeared in the Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories booklet. It also featured in an Ammu-Nation radio advertisement alongside Redwood Cigarettes. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories included Double-Aught Logger as a named variation.
Grand Theft Auto IV used the brand in commercials and on certain Steed trucks. By Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online, Logger Light logos appeared on some Benson vans and Seed trucks, and the beer had advertising of its own. Radio Los Santos and Arena War carried Logger Light sponsorship.
Ownership and Production
Advertising seen in Los Santos said Logger had been brewed and made in the United States before 2009, indicating that production subsequently left the country. In 2013, Ming Ha Ling Beverage of Shanghai bought the company for $4.2 billion. Later promotional copy said brewing had shifted to China, specifically to a province supposedly beyond the ability of many Americans to name.
Logger was also listed as a purchasable stock through GTA V’s Lcn-exchange.com. The record does not give a share price, a stock symbol, or any investment outcome.
Mascots and Uses
The brand’s mascot imagery includes a chipmunk and, in GTA V, a lumberjack resembling Paul Bunyan. Bayview Lodge in Paleto Forest displayed a lumberjack statue holding a Logger Beer barrel. A Logger Light shirt was worn by Janet, bartender at the Yellow Jack Inn, while Beyond Insemination host Duane Earl repeatedly expressed enthusiasm for the beer.
Logger bottles replaced Cherenkov Vodka as Molotov cocktails in GTA V. A commercial called Logger the official beer of American baseball and used altered MLB 2K footage, with baseball players in plain white batting-practice-style uniforms and fictional-business advertisements around the stadium. Republican Space Rangers also depicted Logger Light as a low-calorie beer: President Zane offered the Rangers one, and the bottles shown carried Logger Light labels.
