Willard (HD Universe manufacturer)

Willard is an American automaker of the GTA series' HD Universe, recognizable by a shield logo with a squiggly center line and a catalog of luxury cars mostly styled after mid-to-late 20th-century models; a plate holder on the Faction hints at a past or present Liberty City dealership. In the September 2022 GTA VI leaks, a station wagon apparently inspired by a 1971-1976 Buick Estate appears repeatedly, presumably one of its vehicles.

GTA VI vehicle sightings

A Willard-branded station wagon was visible several times in the September 2022 Grand Theft Auto VI leak footage. In a test-bed clip, Lucia walked around the vehicle and fired an M16 at it. Its manufacturer marking could be read on the grille, wheel rims, and trunk lid, identifying the wagon as a Willard rather than leaving its make inferred from its body shape.

Willard also appeared in an official Vice City screenshot: the rear end of a red sedan carried what appears to be a Willard emblem on its trunk. The screenshot places the manufacturer in Vice City, within the Leonida setting.

Buick and logo influences

Willard chiefly draws on Buick, the General Motors division. That relationship is reflected in the wagon seen in leaked GTA VI footage, whose styling was apparently modeled after the 1971–1976 Buick Estate.

Its HD Universe badge takes the form of a shield with an irregular line through its center. The overall shield shape has been compared with the Hudson Motors emblem when inverted, while the line recalls features of Chrysler’s gold seal design.
