Unnamed GTA VI Scarface-inspired hotel

A hotel evoking the film Scarface is due to appear in Grand Theft Auto VI, standing on the Ocean Drive-style strip in Vice Beach next to the Atlantis Hotel, with a Bobby Hurricane's restaurant and outdoor seating at street level. It debuted in the background of the extended first-trailer artwork and appears in-game in the second trailer behind Jason Duval as he lifts weights at the outdoor gym opposite; the building recreates 728 Ocean Drive in Miami Beach.

Miami Beach Building History

The hotel’s model is based on Miami Beach’s 728 Ocean Drive. Before its later commercial use, the property was known as the Sun Ray Apartments. It became widely associated with the 1983 film Scarface, which presented it as the Sun Ray Motel; the same fictional establishment was also called the Sun Ray Hotel.

The building’s Scarface connection extended to Scarface: The World Is Yours, the 2006 game described as a spiritual sequel to the film. The real address has since changed use again: a CVS Pharmacy opened there on February 9, 2018.

Restaurant Inspiration and Changes

The fictional Bobby Hurricane’s at the hotel takes its street-level restaurant influence from a former Johnny Rockets at 728 Ocean Drive. That Johnny Rockets was ordered closed on January 28, 2016, after health violations.

A separate Scarface-themed restaurant opened beside 728 Ocean Drive on November 20, 2023. Its opening placed a new Scarface-related venue next to the building whose earlier screen depiction had established the visual reference for the GTA VI hotel.
