Hanks Waffles is visible at 1:37 in Grand Theft Auto VI’s second trailer. Its car park is seen beyond the windows of a stationary Vapid SUV occupied by Jason and Lucia, placing the diner in the Port Gellhorn setting shown in the trailer.
Earlier leaked September 2022 footage gave a closer look at the building during a robbery involving the two protagonists. Beyond the interior already seen in that sequence, the exterior included a roadside marker, customer parking, and a tall, weathered pylon sign. The pylon artwork shows a man dressed in an old-fashioned diner uniform presenting a plate of waffles.

The restaurant draws on the Waffle Shoppe, a now-closed restaurant in Panama City Beach, Florida. Hanks Waffles adapts that real-world establishment into Leonida’s Port Gellhorn, including its diner identity and prominent waffle-serving mascot imagery. No earlier Grand Theft Auto appearance or equivalent location in another game is identified.
