Cerveza Barracho
Alcohol brand ST · Statewide
Cerveza Barracho is the HD Universe's Mexican beer brand, its name a deliberate mangling of borracho, Spanish for drunk, sold in 24/7, LTD, and Rob's Liquor stores and plastered across racing liveries and the Venturas Poker Challenge. Likely a riff on Corona, it is expected to be back on shelves in Grand Theft Auto VI.
GTA VI evidence
No Grand Theft Auto VI trailer, screenshot, promotional image, location, or in-game appearance for Cerveza Barracho is identified. Its presence in Leonida has not been confirmed by the available material.
Earlier-game sponsorships
The brand appeared in Grand Theft Auto IV as a sponsor of the opening portion of Weazel’s Venturas Poker Challenge. In Episodes from Liberty City, it served as a main backer for the number 34 Bati Custom. Grand Theft Auto Online later used Barracho branding on numerous vehicle paint schemes, sometimes prominently and sometimes among smaller sponsor marks.
Name and visual influences
Barracho alters borracho, the Spanish term for a drunk person. Its closest real-world reference is Corona, the beer made by Grupo Modelo. The branding also resembles Cerveza Chango, a fictional Mexican beer used in Robert Rodriguez films including Desperado, From Dusk till Dawn, and Sin City. Barracho’s logo uses the Old English (Let) typeface.
