Declasse
Vehicle manufacturer ST · Statewide
Declasse is one of the GTA series' most prolific fictional automakers, an American marque covering sedans, muscle cars, and vans whose French-derived name jokes about being low-class. Primarily based on Chevrolet, it is expected to be well represented again in Grand Theft Auto VI.
GTA VI Vehicle Sightings
September 2022 footage showed an unnamed compact and an unnamed sedan carrying Declasse badges. Both later appeared officially in Grand Theft Auto VI’s first trailer. The trailer also included the Tulip, a heavily raised, donk-style Tulip M-100, and the Granger 3600LX.
The Granger 3600LX appears to use a revised Declasse emblem. Its shape recalls Chevrolet’s bowtie badge, strengthening the manufacturer’s Chevrolet connection without confirming any model-by-model real-world counterpart. No trailer timestamps, Leonida locations, prices, vehicle classes, or modification options are identified for these appearances.
Chevrolet and Other Influences
Declasse takes its main inspiration from Chevrolet, including Chevrolet’s role as a lower-priced General Motors brand. The name derives from the French déclassé, meaning reduced in status or of lower status; the French wording also points toward Chevrolet’s French founder. A different pronunciation emphasis creates an additional crude joke aimed at stereotypes surrounding drivers of large trucks.
Its range also draws from other American manufacturers. Oldsmobile, AMC, and Dodge influences appear among Declasse designs, rather than every vehicle following Chevrolet alone. The badge uses an outer ring and a stylized central D: the inner shape has been compared with Toyota’s central oval, while its deliberately suggestive form supports the brand’s vulgar humour.
Online Radio Advertisement
Before GTA VI, Declasse received a named in-universe advertisement for the Yosemite. The spot aired on Blonded Los Santos 97.8 FM in Grand Theft Auto Online as part of The Doomsday Heist update.
