Hamlet
City VC · Vice City Vice-Dale County
Hamlet is a city in Vice-Dale County, Leonida, due to appear in Grand Theft Auto VI. It surfaced in the September 2022 leaks, both in a debug event list and in a mission clip of Lucia firing at police from a pickup bed on Leonida State Route 61 near the city. Hamlet officially debuted in the first trailer, whose opening shot shows its prison and power plant in the distance.
Trailer and livestream appearances
Hamlet is named and shown in a social-media livestream at 0:58 of the first Grand Theft Auto VI trailer. Posted by LuchaLibreFan, the clip shows a woman carrying a hammer outside an apartment complex. Its caption reads, “Neighborhood watch don't play around in Hamlet.”
The opening of the second trailer includes a Keys Causeway direction sign for Hamlet. The sign places the city near the southeastern end of mainland Leonida, within the Vice-City region.
Homestead inspiration
Hamlet appears to draw from Homestead, Florida. The two names also share Old English roots connected with rural settlements.
A principal street seen around Hamlet in the September 2022 material reproduces a road running through central Homestead. The provided footage does not identify that street by name.
Named local sites
Locations associated with Hamlet include the Beacon Theater, Hamlet Water Tower, Leonida Penitentiary, an LTD gas station, Rattlers, Te Invito, Treasured Trash, and a Vinylism outlet. An apartment complex and a power plant have also been shown, but neither has been given a name.
Leonida State Route 61 runs through the Hamlet vicinity.
