Bravado
Automotive manufacturer ST · Statewide
Bravado is the GTA series' brash American automaker, its lineup dominated by heavy cars and light trucks running large V8 engines that live up to the swaggering name, and it is expected to return in Grand Theft Auto VI. Series lore holds that the company neared bankruptcy around 2013 before a taxpayer-funded government bailout.
Dodge and Ram References
Bravado is chiefly modelled on Dodge: nearly all of its vehicles take their inspiration from Dodge products, with only a small number of exceptions. Its bull insignia draws on the Ram-head badge Dodge used from 1993 until 2010, which continued with the separate Ram Trucks marque.
The animal names Buffalo and Bison reinforce that connection, since both are horned mammals and echo Ram branding. A slightly updated form of the bull badge appeared with the Banshee GTS in Grand Theft Auto Online, including on that car’s Bravado Racing paint scheme. No Bravado vehicle, logo, advertisement, trailer appearance, screenshot, or Leonida location is identified here for Grand Theft Auto VI specifically.
Bailouts and Corporate Satire
A CNT television advertisement featuring the Bison, Gauntlet and Buffalo S placed Bravado’s financial trouble around 2013. The company’s later appeal for another government rescue was reported by Weazel News as criticism of the bailout programme was increasing.
Reports also accused the manufacturer of burning through $23 billion of public money on an unsuccessful environmentally focused car project. These events spoof the real automotive-industry collapse and government rescues of 2008–2010. Bravado’s slogan, “United we stand, together we fall,” twists the familiar saying about standing united and falling divided.
