Field notes
Killer Whales in Leonida
Killer whales, also known as orcas, are marine animals that have populated the newer-generation console and PC versions of Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online, and they are set to return in Grand Theft Auto VI. In their prior appearances they are passive toward the player, typically swim in pods, and are most often noticed by their vigorous jumping and their calls, audible both underwater and from inside a submersible. Peyote Plants in GTA V and GTA Online could also let the player temporarily experience the world through an orca's senses, one of several animal forms the hallucinogenic offered.
First Trailer Sighting
A killer whale appears during the opening moments of Grand Theft Auto VI’s first trailer. This is the only specific GTA VI appearance described: no trailer timestamp, screenshot, promotional caption, or in-game region is identified for the animal.
Its presence in that footage confirms the species for Grand Theft Auto VI, but the material does not identify a location for the sighting or describe any GTA VI interaction, behaviour, model variation, or player-controlled form. The trailer appearance is therefore separate from the fuller gameplay information established for its earlier appearances.
Name and Earlier Appearances
Killer whale and orca are interchangeable names for the same animal in the series material. No scientific name, real-world habitat description, anatomical reference, or stated design basis is provided, so the available identification goes no further than those two common names.
Before Grand Theft Auto VI, the animal appeared in the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC editions of Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online. The material does not list an earlier Grand Theft Auto appearance, nor does it name distinct variants, vehicle classes, manufacturers, prices, modifications, or bugs connected with killer whales.
