Shrewsbury
Weapons manufacturer ST · Statewide
Shrewsbury is an American firearms manufacturer dating in-universe to the 19th century, featured in Grand Theft Auto V and Online and set to appear in Grand Theft Auto VI. Its stock trades on BAWSAQ, and its satirical blurb credits it with the rifle that either "won the West" or slaughtered its indigenous population, depending on where you went to school. The brand alludes to the Winchester Repeating Arms Company.
Weapon Design Approach
Shrewsbury’s firearms are generally presented as straightforward, hard-wearing and low-cost designs rather than elaborate technical showpieces. That approach is paired with lower damage when compared with weapons made by Vom Feuer, whose products are described as more radical and mechanically complex.
Although Shrewsbury is an American company, much of its range draws on designs originating outside the United States. Its selection also covers a broader range of weapon types than the rifle-focused company that inspired its name.
Logo and Industry References
The buck-head emblem appears to take inspiration from Browning Arms Company’s logo. Browning is also associated with the Winchester trademark, linking Shrewsbury’s visual identity to the same firearms-industry reference behind its name.
Shrewsbury is named after the English town of Shrewsbury, mirroring Winchester Repeating Arms Company’s name connection to Winchester, England. Its in-universe Model 1873 reference reinforces that parallel, while the company’s claim to have armed the nineteenth-century West echoes the historical nickname attached to Winchester rifles.
GTA VI Material
No GTA VI trailer timestamp, screenshot, promotional placement, Leonida location, weapon model, price, modification, manufacturer comparison beyond Vom Feuer, or gameplay quirk has been identified for Shrewsbury.
